I hope the process knows we are trusting it.
It’s a new year, and I’ve been reflecting on it. If I want different results, I need to approach things differently — and that starts with seeing the process in a new light. No longer is it some mystical mantra we toss around for motivation. No, the process is more like that quirky personal assistant you never hired but somehow can’t get rid of. It’s there, always lurking in the background, observing your stumbles, your hustle, and every moment of doubt or triumph.
The process knows you’ve been grinding. It’s seen your sleepless nights, heard your whispered prayers, and witnessed every desperate attempt to manifest success. But here’s the thing: does the process truly understand the weight of your trust? This isn’t casual trust. This is “Don’t let me down, or I’m packing my bags and moving back home” kind of trust. Yet, ironically, the process often seems like it’s winging it just as much as we are.
The Law of Input and Output (With a Twist)
Here’s the deal: the process is fair — brutally so. Garbage in, garbage out. If you feed it half-baked efforts, don’t expect it to serve you a first-class lifestyle. But here’s where it gets weird: sometimes, the process rewards what looks like sheer nonsense. Someone stumbles into success by accident, and you’re left wondering if the process has promised double sixes to a select few. Must be nice.
And then there are the favourites. Oh, you know them. Those people who seem to win at life without breaking a sweat. Does the process have a soft spot for them? Or maybe it just can’t bear to see them flounder. Either way, it’s enough to make you side-eye the whole system.
And let’s not forget the Nepo babies, the ultimate “favourites” in the process’s playbook. While we’re busy trusting the process and learning to turn water into wine, they’ve got bottled champagne handed to them at birth. Love it for you … yeah yeah yeah, moving on.
Dear Process: Can We Talk?
Me: Look, I understand. Things could turn out differently if I approached them better.
Process: “Oh, you think? Let’s break this down, shall we?”
“Stop Ignoring Me”
“You can’t just throw vibes and daydreams my way and expect miracles. Engage with me — strategically. Budge, plan, save, and invest. Otherwise, don’t act surprised when we’re stuck in the same spot next year.”
“Your Excuses Are Getting Old”
“Blaming the economy? Time? Sure, convenient. But when was the last time you took a course, built a skill, or networked outside your circle? Stop outsourcing your setbacks to everything but your habits.”
“Delayed Gratification Is Not a Scam”
“Stop chasing instant results. I’m a slow burn. That emergency fund you’re tempted to raid. Let it grow. Those shares you’re itching to sell? Hold on. Patience, my dear.”
“I’m Not a Magician”
“Feed me chaos, and I’ll return it tenfold. Simple math. Keep procrastinating, skipping steps, and expecting miracles, and I’ll keep showing you why discipline matters. Do your part, and I’ll meet you halfway. No shortcuts.”
Me: Sighs in lock-in.
Experience vs. Years Served
Let’s clear something up: just because you’ve been around doesn’t mean you’ve been learning. There’s a difference between spending years with the process and actually putting in the work. It doesn’t care how long you’ve been in the game; it cares about what you’ve been doing in the game. Have you been locked in, or have you been actively playing?
Maybe your process is waiting for you to level up. Start saving, Buy those shares, and Reinvest your dividends. Heck, maybe quit that job and follow your dream. The process loves a good plot twist, but it needs you to set the stage.
Stay Alive, Stay Invested
Here’s the kicker: the process operates on delayed gratification. It’s the tortoise in a world obsessed with hares. You’ve got to stay in the race long enough to see it work its magic. When there’s life, there’s hope — and when there’s hope, the process has a fighting chance to deliver. But survival isn’t enough; you’ve got to keep trying, tweaking, and trusting.
Trust the Process (And Yourself)
Trusting the process isn’t about blind faith. It’s about showing up, putting in the work, and believing that your efforts will pay off. Sprinkle in some discipline, add a lot of prayer, and remind the process that you’re in this together. Yes, it might take its sweet time. Yes, it might test your patience. But maybe — just maybe — it’s got your back.
So, here’s to the process: may it recognise our trust, reward our perseverance, and occasionally throw us a jackpot just for the fun of it. Until then, we’ll keep grinding, keep hoping, and keep trusting.
Trust the process. Still. Happy New Year!
