Nestled within the prestigious Eko Atlantic Pearl Tower B, Black Pepper Steakhouse has long been a beacon for those who crave the perfect steak in a sophisticated setting. Though the restaurant has been a fixture in the city’s dining scene for some time, my recent visit last week was a delightful reminder that Black Pepper remains a standard-bearer for excellence.
As soon as we walked in, it was clear that time had only refined the experience. The ambience and serene lighting instantly sets the tone for a memorable evening. But the true star of the show is, of course, the food.
My date and I decided to indulge in the 1.5kg grilled Golden Tomahawk—a choice that proved to be nothing short of spectacular. Presented with a flair that added a special touch to our dining experience, the Tomahawk was perfectly grilled to achieve that delicate balance of a crispy exterior and a juicy, tender interior. It was served with two sides of our choosing, we opted for the mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables, both of which complemented the rich flavours of the steak beautifully.
Before diving into the Tomahawk, we started with the butterfly shrimp, a dish that set a high bar for the evening. These crunchy shrimps, tossed with bell peppers and lightly sprinkled with parsley, were served alongside warm, homemade bread that added an extra layer of comfort to the dish. The combination of textures and flavours was simply irresistible, making it a perfect forerunner to the main course.
Pairing our meal with expertly crafted cocktails was the cherry on top. The drinks were not only delicious but also served as the ideal complement to our rich and flavorful dishes. Each sip was as enjoyable as the last, rounding off a meal that was nothing short of divine.
One aspect that truly elevates Black Pepper above many other establishments is the impeccable service. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience is flawless. Their knowledge of the menu and readiness to cater to our needs added a personal touch that made the evening even more special.
In a city where the dining scene is ever-evolving, Black Pepper Steakhouse stands as a testament to the power of consistency. They have managed to preserve their quality and charm over the years, making them a reliable choice for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience.
Whether you’re a steak expert/lover or simply looking for a place to enjoy a well-rounded meal in a refined setting, Black Pepper Steakhouse at Eko Atlantic Pearl Tower B should be at the top of your list. I, for one, will certainly be back for more.
- Name of Restaurant: Black Pepper Steak House
- Location: Pearl Towers B, Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island Lagos.
- Experience: Every meal we had at this restaurant, particularly the steak and shrimp, was well-seasoned and delicious. The Golden Tomahawk, in particular, comes with a spectacular presentation. Imagine the chef and waitstaff dancing out of the kitchen to Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic,” carrying a large box filled with raw steak and ice. One of the waiters wields a blowtorch, heating a branding iron, which is then handed over to the chef. In front of you, the chef stamps the steak, before heading back to the kitchen to grill it, all while the waitstaff continues to dance and celebrate around your table. After, the grilling, the same chef and a few waitstaff brought out our side dishes alongside the grilled Tomahawk, the chef did some ‘salt Bae’ show for us and fed me a piece of meat when he was done cutting and salting. Lol. It is an experience.
This experience isn’t for someone looking for a low-key meal, it’s a full-blown event. The entire restaurant’s attention will be on you, and you can expect some guests to pull out their phones to record the show. If you’d prefer a more private dining experience, be sure to inform your server that you’d like to skip the show before placing your order. As I am not hiding from anybody, I requested the full experience. Lol!
- Parking: Ample parking space but bare land.
- Menu: They have an amazing menu.
- Extra advantage: It is a sophisticated, classy steakhouse with different sitting positions. The restaurant has more outdoor seating area than indoor, which is well-ventilated due to the surplus ocean winds. It is very airy and cool outside. And private corners are all available for your satisfaction. A truly unique dining experience.
- Why visit? This is a must-try dining destination in Lagos, from birthday dinners to date nights, family dinners, business/work hangouts or gatherings, it has a warm inviting vibe, cosy and charming. It is perfect for a relaxed meal and meat lovers will have a ball here.
- What’s the Damage? Between 250k – 300k, the Tomahawk alone is about 160 or 170k (what does one expect when steak is covered in ‘gold’?) Then the drinks and food. The show I mentioned above doesn’t come cheap either.
- What meal(s)/drink(s) would you recommend? Take a chance, but if someone else is picking the bill the Golden Tomahawk offers an experience that’s sure to impress (wink).
- Rate the service: First class service, the staff are very courteous, the waiters are always quick to present the menu and to take your order(s), and the food comes out fast.
- Verdict (Would you recommend this place)? Yes, highly acclaimed cuisine and a classic menu in an elegant yet energetic atmosphere.
- Any additional information about this place you’d like to share? It is very spacious with soft live music. Keep an eye on the prices, as they can be higher. Plan accordingly to avoid surprises. They are open every day of the week from 1 pm. It is always safe to make a reservation first before.
Live well, and dine better, because every meal is an opportunity to savour life intentionally.
Love
Jess.
