In today’s fast-paced world, people are reassessing how to achieve their desires without depleting their energy. As we embrace our multi-faceted, multi-passionate selves, the narrative that attaining success doesn’t mean we have to burn ourselves out is finally gaining traction. But the question remains: can we truly have it all? Here’s my take on this for our August Edition.
Wearing Multiple Hats
Throughout my career, I’ve often worn multiple hats, juggling various roles and responsibilities. From managing customers to leading teams, the ability to adapt and thrive in different capacities has been both challenging and rewarding. The key is finding a balance that allows us to pursue our passions without compromising our well-being.
Pursuing Passions
Outside the office, I find joy in clubbing(lol) hanging with friends, partying, and fine dining (most of you already know this, I can’t come and kee myself). These activities are more than just pastimes; they are vital for my mental and emotional well-being. They provide me with a much-needed break from the rigours of work and allow me to reconnect with myself and my loved ones.
Having It All in 2024
For women in 2024, having it all means redefining success on our terms. It’s about achieving professional goals while maintaining a fulfilling personal life. It’s no longer about fitting into a single Mold but embracing our unique paths and passions.
Hobbies and Passions
My hobbies and passions, such as travelling, cooking, shopping, writing and of course clubbing and fine dining(wink), spark joy in and out of the office. They offer a sense of freedom and adventure, fuelling my creativity and productivity at work. I believe it’s crucial to have activities that excite and inspire us beyond our professional lives.
Monetising Hobbies
While monetising hobbies can be rewarding, it’s not always necessary. Sometimes, our passions should remain a source of joy and relaxation, free from the pressures of generating income. The key is to find a balance that works for you.
Saving, Investing, and Living a Soft Life
Achieving financial stability doesn’t mean sacrificing enjoyment. By saving and investing wisely, we can still live a “soft life” filled with the experiences we cherish. It’s about making smart choices and finding harmony between financial goals and personal fulfilment.
On Trading Off
Knowing when to trade off is crucial. Sometimes, we may need to prioritize certain aspects of our lives over others. The important thing is to make these decisions consciously and ensure they align with our long-term goals and values.
Ideal Summer Destination
For my next summer destination, I’m dreaming of a getaway that blends relaxation with adventure. Whether it’s a serene beach or a vibrant city, I plan to embrace the moment fully, recharging for the challenges ahead.
Conclusion
In the end, having it all is about balance and intentionality. It’s about recognising our limits, prioritising our passions, and finding joy in every aspect of our lives. By redefining success and embracing our multi-faceted selves, we can achieve our desires without burning out. So, can we truly have it all? I believe we can, as long as we stay true to ourselves and what truly sparks joy in our lives.
Luv, Jess.
