As someone who is head over heels for sushi, discovering a sushi restaurant that caters to both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts alike is like stumbling upon a culinary goldmine. Enter IzanagiRestaurant, a timeless gem that has captured my heart and palate with its exquisite sushi offerings and welcoming ambience.
Located amidst a bustling street in Victoria Island, Lagos State, Izanagi Restaurant may appear unassuming from the outside, but don’t let its modest exterior fool you. Upon stepping inside, I was immediately struck by the cosy yet elegant atmosphere, adorned with mild traditional Japanese decor that exudes a sense of tranquillity.
But it’s the sushi that truly steals the spotlight at Izanagi. Each piece is a testament to the skill and artistry of the chef(s), meticulously prepared with the freshest ingredients and bursting with flavours. From delicate nigiri to innovative sushi rolls, every bite is a revelation, leaving me craving more and shinning my teeth all the way(lol) with each passing moment.
PS: I usually smile whenever I’m savouring delicious food that truly satisfies me because my taste buds are rarely impressed by mere meals.
What’s particularly interesting is how Izanagi caters to both sushi novices and enthusiasts alike. The other day a friend of mine had her birthday there, as I glanced around the restaurant, I couldn’t help but notice that many of our friends who had previously been hesitant to try sushi were all trying…(lol) and most were converted. With Izanagi’s inviting atmosphere and accessible menu options, they found themselves venturing into uncharted culinary territory and discovering a newfound appreciation for sushi.
For those who are new to sushi, Izanagi offers the perfect introduction, with friendly staff who are eager to guide you through the menu and recommend dishes based on your preferences. Whether you’re hesitant to try raw fish or simply unsure where to start, Izanaai provides a welcoming environment where you can explore and expand your culinary horizons with confidence.
On the other hand, for sushi enthusiasts like me, Izanagi is nothing short of a paradise. The restaurant’s commitment to quality and authenticity shines through in every dish, making it a must-visit destination for anyone who considers themselves a sushi enthusiast.
Despite its age, Izanagi Restaurant has managed to stand the test of time, continuing to captivate diners with its exceptional Japanese Cuisine such as sushi offerings and warm hospitality. It’s like rediscovering an old favourite all over again, each visit feels like a journey of culinary rediscovery.
In conclusion, whether you’re a sushi newbie or a seasoned lover of Japanese cuisine, Izanagi Restaurant is a destination not to be missed. Prepare to be transported to sushi heaven, where every bite is a symphony of flavor, and every visit feels like coming home.
1. Name of Restaurant: Izanagi Restaurant
2. Location: 19B Idejo Street, Victoria Island Lagos
3. Experience: As stated above, Izanagi food always hits the right spot, every sushi roll that enters the mouth is a hit back-to-back, making it the best experience and right sushi spot in Lagos, if not Nigeria (quote me)
4. Parking: Good packing space, on the street though.
5. Menu: Excellent dishes, I was told they have a good choice for vegetarians also, as well as cooked sushi options (everything is not raw, lol)
6. Extra advantage: On a quiet street and at a central location. They have some private areas too, a good atmosphere and décor, good bar and nightclub downstairs (Vellvett Lounge Club) to continue the night (For proper outsiders, if you know what I mean)
7. Why: The food is nice, and the manager gave my friend and me a complimentary dessert on my first visit here and a pot of ginger tea, giving that extra customer experience goes a long way. So, I highly recommend it.
8. Damage: lol, I always find this question funny. Some damage was done trust me, because a decent portion of shish here is about 80,000 – 100,000 naira.
9. What meal(s)/drink(s) would you recommend: Let me help you with the best shish special – Izanagi twins, Izanagi Dragon Salmon, Crispy Sushi, Salmon Skin, King Lobster Ura maki, Crazy Mango, Seaweed Sensatio, High Voltage T roll tuna etc. Well well-stocked bar, so no drink recommendations as everything goes.
10. Rate the service: For service, I will give them 8/10 but for food, it is 10/10 minus nothing, compared with what we currently have in Lagos.
11. Verdict? Would you recommend this place: My above points have said it all, yes, I highly recommend it here. I have had sushi in several places abroad, mostly at the supposed Japanese restaurants and I can say for a fact that this place is still up there in my opinion.
12. Any additional information about this place you’d like to share: The best sushi restaurant in Lagos without any doubt, the food here is always fresh and very tasty. The ambience is very classy. Though it’s a bit expensive it’s worth it. You don’t necessarily need to make a reservation.
Bon appétit!
