Travelling not only broadens our horizons but also allows us to unleash our inner fashionista; like I always say, “Every day, every occasion is an opportunity to show the world the ‘style’ you are made of.” As we embark on thrilling adventures around the globe, we discover that there is indeed such a thing as travel fashion. It’s a unique fusion of comfort, style, and self-expression that captures the essence of our journeys. Join me as I take you on a colourful journey through my amazing adventures in Ghana, where each destination became a canvas for my travel fashion escapades.
Bridgeview Resort in Akosombo: Unwinding in Style
Nestled amidst the scenic beauty of Akosombo, Bridgeview Resort provided the perfect backdrop for my serene vacation. I chose a chic white blouse with stylish ropes by the sides perfectly knotted into bows; with a low-waisted pair of blue jean shorts and accessorising with a Chanel necklace, a gold wristwatch and anklet, and a ruby bracelet. I let down my flawlessly braided French curls to fit the charming environment, giving me the ideal ‘a-princess-on-an-adventure’ look. It was all so perfect!
As I explored the resort’s lush gardens and indulged in the breathtaking views of the Volta River, my travel fashion became an extension of the tranquil surroundings.
Royal Senchi Resort in Akosombo: A Boat Ride in Elegance
Embarking on a boat ride along the captivating Volta River at Royal Senchi Resort was a moment of pure bliss. Sporting a breezy pink floral Bella summer set in vibrant hues, with my braids styled into a ponytail and knotted with a matching pink floral material, complemented by a draping pair of pink leafy-styled earrings and a glossy white pair of slippers – everyone could tell that this Barbie was there to live her best life *winks*.
The combination of classic elements and a touch of whimsy perfectly captured the essence of this aquatic adventure.
Emperor Night Club in Kumasi: Friday Night Extravaganza
Kumasi’s nightlife is legendary, and Emperor Night Club lived up to its reputation. As I stepped into the pulsating atmosphere, my travel fashion took on a bold and edgy persona. I opted for a sleek and stylish black and white African print two-piece attire – sewn into a turtle-necked top with long sleeves uniquely and triangularly styled, and a matching pair of shorts, accentuated with metallic accessories and a pair of killer black heels. The vibrant lights and electrifying beats were the perfect backdrop for my fashion-forward ensemble. I danced the night away, immersing myself in the local and foreign music filtering through the loudspeakers.
Rattray Park in Kumasi: Embracing Nature with Style
Rattray Park offered a serene respite from the city’s hustle and bustle. Embracing the lush greenery, I chose a purple oversized tee and a dark blue pair of jean shorts.
Dear Reader, at this point I know you can tell that this adventurer is a lover of shorts *smiles*, well, it always allows the cool breeze to filter through my skin. Such a soothing feeling!
With a bottle of soft drink locked in my right hand and a beautiful smile plastered on my face, I took a stroll around the park, inhaling tranquillity, and exhaling worries. My travel fashion blended seamlessly with the natural beauty, creating a harmonious and stylish escapade.
Attending a Ghanaian Wedding in Kumasi:
Embracing the opportunity to experience Ghanaian traditions, I found myself at a beautiful wedding in Kumasi. As a Nigerian adorned in our typical ‘Asoebi’ attire, I become a part of the cultural tapestry. It was a stylishly sewn lace, a combination of purple and lilac colours – a sleeveless spiralled blouse with dangling beads tailored in front and a long skirt remarkably slitted behind. My vibrant and elegant outfit and simple but classy set of jewellery captivated the audience; I could see heads turning and a thousand eyes peering through my skin.
Other wedding guests also showed up in their own unique fashion; some guests were from other African countries and around the world. It was a celebration of the unity of cultures through style.
Kwadaso Local Market in Kumasi: A Kaleidoscope of Colors
No trip to Ghana is complete without exploring the vibrant local markets. As I wandered through the bustling alleys, my travel fashion became a canvas for the colours and textures of the market. I embraced the traditional Kente fabric dress, draping it as a headscarf and incorporating it into my outfit. Vibrant prints, statement accessories, and a sense of cultural appreciation became the hallmarks of my market exploration.
Labadi Beach in Accra: Sun, Sand, and Chicness
A visit to Labadi Beach in Accra was a celebration of sun, sand, and style. I chose a trendy black long-sleeved blouse, a black pair of shorts, and a large-sized pair of sunglasses. As I basked in the warmth of the sun and cooled off in the azure waters, my travel fashion exuded confidence and an insatiable zest for life.
La-Palms Royal Hotel: Unwinding in Luxury
To end my Ghanaian adventures with a touch of luxury, I indulged in a swim at the exquisite La-Palms Royal Hotel in Accra. Donning a stylish one-piece swimsuit in a classic pink, paired with a pink sarong and a black Hermes slipper, I exuded an aura of elegance and relaxation. My travel fashion was a testament to the beauty and opulence of this remarkable destination.
In the realm of travel fashion, every adventure becomes an opportunity to express our unique style and capture the essence of our experiences. These adventures and unique styles of mine earned me many nicknames such as Chop Life Minister, Honourable Fashionista, Nenye Pounds and Dollars, President of the Chop Life Gang and so on. It was a total delight! It was glaring that a baby girl was on this trip to live her best life.
From serene resorts to vibrant nightclubs, Ghana provided the perfect backdrop for my fashion-forward escapades.
Dear Reader, as you embark on your journey, do well to embrace the colourful world of travel fashion, documenting your memories, and inspiring others to embark on their stylish adventures, just as I have done. After all, life is too short to travel without fashion!
