Hey there!
First timer and your resident Gen Z reporting for duty. As the self-acclaimed Patron Saint of Lagos restaurants, I am here to give you a glimpse into the experience behind your favourite Lagos Restaurants. Feel free to live vicariously through me – at least where enjoyment is concerned *cue in a very mischievous wink*
Why don’t we begin?
I was going to start off with a review of this really cute café in the heart of Lekki, but I have decided to give you something even better. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Gusto Lagos! This is an upscale Asian Fusion Dining space located within the same space as fan favourite restaurants – El Padrino and Bature Brewery. Let’s take a closer look at what to expect:
- Name of Restaurant: Gusto Lagos
- Location: 256 Etim Inyang Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos State.
- Experience: The Halloween night special was such a cool experience. They get cool points for the décor and costumes.
- Parking: Not that much space for parking as the space houses 3 nightlife spots.
- Menu:
Asian fusion – Quite versatile but not overwhelming like most Asian menus
- Basic Damage:
N15,000 and above for a meal (Laughs in open your wallet, boss!)
- What meal(s)/drink(s) would you recommend?
I had the Spicy Squid as an appetizer and let me tell you – it was bomb! Hands down the best squid I have ever had in this city. By the end of the night, I had won a squid convert in my fellow foodie. It was crunchy as well as spicy and had a wonderful burst of flavours.
For our mains, I opted for the Thai Chicken Fried rice and while my fellow foodie went for the pineapple chicken and shrimp fried rice (Yes, we know rice will soon grow on our heads). The pineapple rice was so good on its own, however, if you are a wicked Igbo babe like me who loves her meals hot and spicy, I suggest you request a pepper dip. Other than that, the meal was great.
I know we all heard the famous TikTok sound about the Negroni S’bagliato with Prosecco in it, right? Well, I tried it. Let me tell you, this drink is for the more mature ladies with refined tastes if I may say so myself. The Campari in the cocktail was boxing me from the moment I took a sip till I finished it off with tequila shots. All said and done, I would actually order that once I visit again.
- Rate the service
I am a sucker for great service. We all agree that a lot of Lagos restaurants are overpriced and combine that with horrible service but here? It was giving great and comfortable service. The waiters actually waited on me, and I felt really special and happy to give away my coins. It was an awesome experience from the meals to their service. The staff are very courteous, the waiters are always quick to present you with options on the perfect meal to suit your tastes and to take your order(s). It’s a whopping 4 out of 5 stars for me.
- Verdict? Would you recommend this place?
Yes, it is a great option and a perfect place to grab a casual lunch or dinner. On the downside, I believe the space can be better managed, and I do not recommend it for intimate and private conversations (I told a joke and the guest at the next table laughed).
In the words of a very famous person whom I do not remember right now, “Food brings people together on many different levels. It’s the nourishment of the soul and body”. That will be all for now.
