Your colleagues believe that you are a stand-up guy. In your own words, who do you think a stand-up guy is?
A stand-up guy is reliable and dependable – qualities that are a bit hard to find these days. I put my all into everything I do to deliver my best always. I work hard and play hard and leave no one behind because I believe we can all win bigger as a functional team.
Describe yourself in three words.
Kind, Tenacious, Accountable.
You’re often called Oba by your colleagues, why? Do you have any other nicknames?
Not really. Growing up I had always been referred to by my surname “Oba-Okojie” or simply “Okojie”, so I am used to it. My brothers and close friends call me “Tobo” 😊.
We’ve also heard you’re called ‘Full Option’ what does it mean?
No Comment. 😊 I really don’t know where this came from. I also heard it too and I was shocked. Maybe you can tell me what it means?
What drives you? The work you do, the man you’ve become, what would you say is your driving force?
God drives me. The dignity in hard work drives me. My devotion to my wife and kids drives me. My ambition to be “Soft like Tony” drives me. I believe strongly that I need to be a good example to those around me & people that look up to me, it’s the only true legacy.
How long have you been an HH Person and what would you say have been the highlights of your time at HH Group?
One very rewarding and fantastic year!!! It’s been all I thought it would be and more. I feel the HH Group has some of the finest minds that I have had the privilege to learn from and work with, in my entire working career. I love the energetic and driven culture; it truly gives me a reason to come to work every day.
What’s one thing you’d want people to know about you?
I cannot dance to save my life 😊
What moment would you say is/was your defining moment as a stand-up guy?
Wow. I can’t really say. Maybe my colleagues would do better justice with this. I just believe understanding of the big picture that drives my willingness to help and put in the work always qualifies me as a stand-up guy. 😊
What do you do in your free time?
Watch Series/documentaries, read/learn new things, laundry/cleaning, fool around with my wife & kids
What’s your philosophy on life?
Once you understand that life isn’t meant to be easy/perfect, you begin to cope better with life and can deal with anything.
What would you like other men to know?
Take pride in what you do, believe in yourself but never be overconfident or conceited. Be open & listen to feedback and learn to adapt to various situations as fast as you can. Always be thankful and show gratitude, this way you wouldn’t get too upset & angry all the time. Life isn’t easy or perfect. Accept that and deal with it. Be solution driven and always find ways to add value. Develop yourself and play to your strengths. Be accepting of people and follow peace with all men (or at least try to…. 😊).
