I can still hear the birds chirping, clear water gushing, wind howling, dogs barking, and children laughing. I have traveled to a number of interesting places, but few are as memorable as my week-long experience at Niagara Falls in New York.
Back in 2016, I had a very busy year and had been waiting for an outlet to relax and rejuvenate, and that was exactly what I did at Niagara Falls. A group of iconic waterfalls bordering New York and Canada, Niagara Falls is breath-taking and beautiful, with an unmatched serenity.
Standing under the waterfalls in a boat, I remember pausing in awe of God’s mighty work of nature and being blessed to witness this awesome beauty.
My travel style is a lot more laid-back, as I prefer to pause and reflect on experiences rather than do multiple things in a day, so I was right at home at the Falls. I enjoyed my time there; from taking over 2000 pictures on my iPhone, grilling turkey with my family with a rainbow running across the sky, hiking over 20,000 steps to get closer to the Falls, to laying in the grass listening to my favourite Coldplay album, over and over again.
Anytime I feel stressed out and start to long for serenity, I always go back to the time I felt inner peace watching waterfalls at Niagara Falls. Thankfully, I have over 2,000 photos that serve as a reminder of my experience.
