It is New Year’s Eve; you are lying in bed all gloomy after spending your first Christmas holiday as an adult away from parents (yes!) in a different city with friends and you are wondering, “What would excite me right now?”.
This was me New Year’s eve in 2021 and these funny thoughts led me to Oceans Basket at exactly 7:45pm that day.
Oceans Basket is a restaurant that serves seafood dishes. They have different locations across Lagos: Victoria Island, Ikeja GRA, and Ikeja City Mall.
I visited the spot in Ikeja GRA as it was the closest to me.
Experience
I had no regrets leaving my house that day because it was honestly an amazing experience.
The pricing was amazing, the customer service was impeccable, and the environment was highly conducive. We were assigned a waiter as soon as we got into the building. They had a second floor which gave an amazing view of the little garden on their balcony and the Ikeja GRA scenery while you enjoyed your food.
I am someone who likes to enjoy the view while I eat. In other words, my eating experience is not just about the food it an entire package of experiences, so it was no surprise that I chose to stay on the second floor. The waiter ensured that we were properly attended to constantly coming to our table to ascertain our mood and confirm that we were having a great time.
Menu
The food was amazing! With a capital ‘’A’’.
They serve a 3-course meal. However, you can start with a free appetizer of bread and a really sweet sauce and avoid paying for actual appetizers.
For the main dish, I ordered Calamari 3 ways. This is different Calamari dishes served on a platter. We had fried, grilled and Cajun-style Calamari with a side dish of either rice or chips. Now the Calamari, wow! I could actually write an entire article on their Calamari but no, you have to experience it yourself. They also had other sea foods like sushi, mussels and prawns and so on turned into amazing dishes available on their menu.
Their drink menu was diverse and affordable as well. I had the Long Island and it was quite strong. I don’t recommend more than 2 glasses of you are driving home.
Additional Advantage
An amazing thing about Oceans basket is that the environment and menu are tailored to fit a wide range of customers, from kids to young adults and the elderly. You can make reservations for parties for all age groups. In fact, I witnessed a proposal on this very day, exciting right?
To top it all off, the pricing is quite affordable.
Verdict
I would definitely recommend Oceans Basket to anyone looking to go crazy on sea food delicacies.
Giving it an 8 out of 10 just because there was a little more garlic than necessary in the garlic sauce on the bread, but honestly, it was quite an experience.
