“We give away our power too quickly when we underrate ourselves before we try. There is genius in all of us. Don’t be afraid to top it first.”- Odiri Oginni.
Inspiration can be defined as a touch or spark, which can assist, uplift, and motivate someone to accomplish anything they desire in life. A person or an event can be a source of inspiration. A woman that inspires me is the beautiful Madam Odiri Oginni.
Odiri Oginni is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of United Capital Asset Management. She is an experienced corporate executive and board director with over fifteen years of experience. She is the driving force behind the business strategy and financial performance of United Capital.
My admiration for her increased when she was nominated to be among the top 100 Career Women in Nigeria, 2021. With her extraordinary determination and hard work, she has proven that a woman (just like me) can be a mother, a wife, a worker, and an influencer at the same time. She exudes an exemplary lifestyle worth emulating. I can humbly say, her personal life is filled with integrity, dignity and quiet wisdom.
During her growing stages, Madam Oginni may have faced multiple challenges often connected with misogynistic views but unlike others, she used those challenges to her advantage, utilising them as a rough draft to step up to the next level. Noticing this vice and the negative influences against women, Madam Oginni became a full mentor in innovative programs like Public Service of the CFA Society Nigeria and Women in Investment Management Business and Public Service – a Nigerian nonprofit organisation that seeks to empower women.
