Outside our day to day activites, and even within the hidden crannies of our offices, several people can easily be crowned Mr or Ms. Popularity…seriously, who bears the name “Silver Fox” on a normal day?
This month, we share with you the nicknames of our colleagues and their origin.
OKECHUKWU OHANTA – SILVER FOX
Our very own Okechukwu Ohanta, Sub-Surface Manager, Tenoil, a.k.a Laurenzo – has this name unofficially trademarked by Chidimma Ugbojiaku, his colleague.
The nickname came off his middle name (Raphael). It started with calling him Ralph Lauren (because of his style and middle name obviously), and then Chidimma thought it was a bit cliché, then it turned to Ralph Laurenzo, then “Laurenzo”
However, he has 2 other other nicknames. Talk about popularity jingo!
2. Silver Fox – He also bears this sleek name, obviously because of his grey-silver hair. Ikechi, our former colleague started this (actually the full name was “Silver Fox nwa Mama!!!”
3. Okey Oil and Gas – please ask the Executive office folks who came up with this name ?
TOPE ONAKOYA – SKANORY
Back in secondary school, Tope’s classmates called him Onaks, taken from his surname, Onakoya. However, other surnames such as Onakomaya, Onakunle, etc also passed for the same nickname and they often claimed ownership.
Tope decided to add a little twist. Reading from the last to the first letter, the nickname Onaks becomes Skano. The whole family loved the idea, each member adding their twist.
He is now known as Skanory, while his siblings are Skanota, Skanoke and Skanoid.
SkanoNation!!!
OMORUYI OSEMWEKHAE – THE EMPEROR!
HH Logistics and Protocol Manager, Uyi, a.k.a The Emperor is not a new name around here, but the name came about when Nonso Okpala, former HH colleague decided that Uyi’s hands-on approach to his job was a befitting name for him.
Hence, the name – The Emperor!
By the way, Victor Momodu also has another name for Uyi which we won’t share here. We don’t want to risk anything…
Emperor Uyi, who knows if he will fiddle while HH is ‘burning’?
