An Office Assistant in Heirs Holdings by day and a music artiste by night, Paul shares with us his big break the day our Chairman danced to his music.
A little backstory: during the last end of year internal party in December, 2017, Paul picked up courage and asked that we play his music. At that moment, everyone, including the Chairman, was captivated.
Here are a few details you did not know about Paul:
Hello Paul, so what’s your stage name and how did you come about it?
My name is Paul Ebereku. I go by the stage name, Pass-P. My brother gave me the name. His name is Anase and he named me Passa, but then I joined Paul to it to become Pass-P.
I had some issues with my girlfriend at the time I made the song. She broke my heart. So, I wrote this song for her, “let me take you to the baseline” as she believed that I could not do anything for her.
But I believe that one day, I will take her to the baseline.
This was a month after the break up. My brother helped me to produce the song.
How has the journey been? I heard you recently met a producer.
Last time, I met with Temitope and we went to meet producer: Gospel on the Beat. We talked about starting practice, about 2 – 3 times a week and we will work on about 10 songs, select about 4 and then send them out to see if people liked the songs and if I will be able to get more fans. Also, he said we will see if I can get someone who would be interested in collaborating and then after the training, we will also see if we can get marketers.
I was asked who I would like to work with and I said 2face, Wizkid and Davido. He asked if I chose them because they have money, but I said no. I chose them because I like their songs. 2face, for example, sings with messages. I love listening to their songs. These are all I discussed with Gospel on the Beat.
He said he will call me after his trip. He also said if an artist has a show he will call me to watch and learn from them.
So far, I have done 2 songs but I only mixed and mastered one, as I am short of funds.
Who else has Gospel on the Beat worked with?
Gospel on the beat produces songs for Tekno, Whizkid, Tiwa Savage, Patoranking and Reekado Banks.
How did you feel during the meeting with Gospel on the Beat?
I was so impressed…wow…I thought to myself, “I am getting to the baseline”.
What would you do for your country when you hit it big?
I promise to build a school for my community – Ogoja, Cross River. I would also want to build a church as we don’t have a big church. I always pray to God that if God blesses me, I will do what I promise. I will not live a rough life. I will take care of my family, help my mother and my younger ones and build a future.
Tell me, how did you feel when the Chairman called you out after listening to your music and when he pledged to sponsor you?
I felt great…wow…I felt like I should enter the ground. It was my first time meeting the Chairman and touching his hand!!!
I felt happy. I slept well the whole night.
What would you like to tell the Chairman?
He is my Godfather forever. God bless his family, his business. …anything he touches will bring more. No problems in his life…too many blessings in his family and God will do more for him.
Thank you, Paul (Pass-P).
