Few days to the end of the year and you can almost feel the energy as we are in the “Ember period”. Don’t be surprised that businesses in certain climes will begin aggressive sales promos in anticipation of end-of-year activities.
So, what is it about the ember months that gets us into a frenzy?
Most of the time, it is our GOALS – the ones we set and the ones others have set for us (real or imagined). At the beginning of the year, our faces were bright with the expectation of great things to come, but as the year winds down, massive anxiety may set in.
People get desperate and desperation often leads to poor choices.
The other side of the divide is a tendency to go ‘gaga’ with the excitement of the festivities by partying as hard as humanly possible or spending to impress our peers. In spite of whatever season we are in, we still need to stay safe, have money for school fees in January and carry on with the business of living.
Life is to be enjoyed ‘responsibly’. We can make the most of it by riding on the positives of the coming season including holidays, shopping, celebrations and another opportunity to catch up with loved ones.
Keeping 2017 in perspective is by being thankful for making it this far into the year despite what has been or is yet to be achieved.
Be thankful!
