Get a man that can do both
There’s a common misconception that women don’t really know what they want and as such, are hard to please. This is clearly not the truth! While I can’t speak for ALL women, I can speak for a certain number and I am sure others will agree with me after I lay my case, that women just want 1 thing – the imperfect gentleman.
I rate men based on 3 things: His shoes, his watch and if I can get close enough, his cologne. All other things are peripheral. I mean, you don’t have to buy a Patek Phillipe, but please have a nice-looking wrist watch, it shows that your time is really important to you (instead of wasting precious seconds trying to reach for your phone to know the time or asking everyone around you for the time).
It is actually really easy to tell how a man generally is by looking at his feet, if he’s laid back (socks + slip-ons), untidy (undone shoelaces) or keen style savvy (leather oxfords). I mean, there is a time and place for everything and you do not have to break the bank by buying House of Testoni shoes, just invest in a nice pair of shoes. And by all means not-so-gentlemen, please smell nice ALWAYS! There is a reason why Ouds are all the rage and a favourite with the ladies these days. It’s because nothing makes you smell more intensely masculine. A perfect scent is John Varvatos’ Oud John Varvatos.
There is this Yoruba saying that goes “owo ni obirin mo”, which translates into “Money is all a woman understands/ knows”. Money brings security and security is big deal for women. I do not believe there is any woman alive who will be happy to be the sole provider in her home. Yes, a man doesn’t have to settle ALL the bills, but it is comforting to know he can handle some of it. Doesn’t he have a good paying job? That’s fine! He can hustle. There’s nothing more attractive than a man who can take care of business in the boardroom as well as on the streets (in a non-illegal way of course K)
This also applies to his character, a man should be gentle, respectful and attentive but should be able to throw it down when need be. He doesn’t necessarily have to use his fists, and tbh, not all situations require that, but when needed and when I can’t, I want my man to stand up for me.
Lastly, men always talk about how they want “…”
Well, women want that too.
I want to believe this is the first part of a two-part series. The sequel will be aptly titled ‘little things that matter to men about women’. Still wondering who will take up the gauntlet among the men. I am just wondering what happens to some men who naturally don’t like to wear perfumes.
