Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the struggle edition of Lola’s Kitchen…
And I do mean STRUGGLE.
I was asked to put together a budget dish… something that can tide you over in this bleak reality of Tomato/Ebola, but what could be more budget than a N50 burger?
So I asked myself, what is relatively cheap and also a staple food to us? What if you happen to have indomie in your house and some old rice but no tomato and you just aren’t in the mood for noodles? I mean this is a real possibility, right?
Today, I present to you catering practical extraordinaire – Indomie Rice… I mean, Ireti would be proud.
Its really very simple:
Ingredients:
- Rice
- Indomie (for the seasoning)
- Protein (this could be meat, chicken, sausage… or just boiled eggs which everyone knows is the standard meat for indomie)
Step 1:
I boiled the only rice I had lying around which was brown rice and set it aside
Step 2:
I sautéed the meat which was in this case chicken with some onions garlic and habaneros (ata rodo)
Step 3:
I added the rice and stirred it into the chicken
Step 4
The Original Indomie is the OG, but I decided to switch it up with Indomie Onion!!
Step 5
I put the seasoning in the rice and stirred it in and also added additional pepper.
Step 6
It’s a little bizarre eating indomie flavored rice but I’d definitely do it again.
Enjoy!
