Earlier this week, Chairman, Heirs Holdings, Tony O. Elumelu was in Haiti to meet with President Jovenel Moïse and address a group of young Haitian entrepreneurs at the inauguration of Alpha Haiti – Haiti’s first public technological incubator. The launch happened on Monday, June 03, 2018.

Located in the Ciné Triomphe complex, which becomes the first technological and cultural complex in the country, Alpha Haiti aims to foster an environment conducive to the creation of start-ups, support for innovative projects and training in the field of new technologies and entrepreneurship.

In a keynote titled; ‘How entrepreneurship significantly leads to economic growth in Africa, and what Haiti can learn from it’, Mr Elumelu shared experiences from the Tony Elumelu Foundation; building the largest entrepreneurship programme in Africa, to inspire and galvanise the entrepreneurial passion in Haiti. “As a country with a very young population – 70% of Haiti is under 30 – embracing entrepreneurship as a vehicle for sustainable and inclusive growth is critical and I commend the government for prioritising the youth and SMEs,” he said.
