Just arrived Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum 2017. I am joined by my colleagues from Heirs Holdings and the United Bank of Africa (UBA) to represent Africa’s business community.
A key theme at this year’s WEF is Africa at Work, highlighting the enormous changes the continent has made over the past few years and our confidence in Africa’s potential – evidenced by the Heirs Holdings Group growth trajectory and the positive impact of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme.
The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting is notable for bringing together government, business and civil society figures. This year’s tagline – Responsive and Responsible Leadership, is particularly fitting for the political and economic changes transforming the world, and how organisations, countries and individuals must be positioned to take advantage of the opportunities, that these changes will offer. It also echoes my sentiments about the respective roles of the private and public sectors in achieving sustained and inclusive development in Africa.
I promise to keep you all updated with behind the scene updates on these discussions and more. Stay tuned!
