Lagos, Nigeria, August 13, 2018: Africa Prudential Plc, one of Nigeria’s leading share registration and investor services firm recently held a farewell dinner in honour of its erstwhile Managing Director/CEO, Mr Peter Ashade following a very remarkable twelve-year period, and welcome to his successor, Mr Obong Idiong.
The event kicked off with a farewell video which featured a flurry of accolades and goodwill messages from colleagues within the company, and contemporaries across the industry.
Over 300 guests, including captains of industries, Capital Market regulators and operators, institutional investors, and representatives of shareholder associations were in attendance to celebrate the astute gentlemen.
Prominent among dignitaries who graced the dinner are Mr. Tony O. Elumelu (CON): Chairman of Heirs Holdings Limited and Founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation; Mr. Kennedy Uzoka, Group Managing Director of United Bank for Africa Plc, Mr. Emmanuel Nnorom, Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Holdings Limited; Mrs. Owen Omogiafo, Executive Director of Transcorp Nigeria Plc, Mr. Haruna Jalo-Waziri, Managing Director of Central Securities Clearing System Plc; and Mr. Bola Ajomale, Managing Director of NASD Plc.
In his comments on stage, Mr Elumelu congratulated Mr Ashade for a remarkable tenure as CEO of the company. He further expressed confidence in the capabilities of the new CEO to steer the company in opening new frontiers for the business within and beyond the capital market. He noted that this is something that Mr Peter Ashade has consistently done over the years while assuring stakeholders that the new CEO will build on these competencies to deliver even greater value.
Still in the atmosphere of glitz and glamour, Chairman of the Company, Chief (Mrs.) Eniola Fadayomi lauded Mr Ashade for taking the company to higher heights. She expressed her confidence that Mr Idiong’s appointment will open a new vista for the company to further consolidate on her capabilities and the milestones set by Mr Ashade.
Full of emotions on the night, Mr Ashade acknowledged the unflinching support of the Board of Directors, management and staff of the company, as well as emotional support from his family and friends.
The high point of the night was the handover ceremony when—amidst colourful confetti blast—Mr. Ashade handed over the symbolic Africa Prudential Plc plaque to Mr Obong Idiong, who was appointed as his successor in June and has assumed office from July 1, 2018.
While thanking clients and shareholders for their loyalty and support over the years, the new MD/CEO, Mr Idiong, in his closing remarks, affirmed that the company will build on Mr Ashade’s legacy and is poised to surpassing existing benchmarks. “We shall continue to create value for shareholders. I reassure you of our commitment to consistently improve on the quality of customer experience,” he added.
