This week, Heirs Holdings Founder and Group Chairman, Tony O. Elumelu, CFR, embarked on a strategic visit to Gabon and Cameroon, reinforcing economic and business collaborations across the region.
Gabon: Strengthening Financial and Economic Relations
Tony Elumelu, paid a courtesy visit to the President of Gabon, H.E. Brice Oligui Nguema, to discuss economic partnerships and further deepen strategic business ties. Joining him on this visit was the Sector Head, Heirs Insurance Group, Niyi Onifade.
Following this high-level engagement, he visited UBA Gabon, a subsidiary of our investee company, United Bank of Africa (UBA), where he interacted with team members. Since its establishment in 2009, UBA Gabon has played a pivotal role in financial empowerment within the country, supporting businesses and individuals alike.
Cameroon: Keynote Address at the Inaugural Cameroon Economic Meetings
At the invitation of the President of Cameroon, H.E. Paul Biya, Tony Elumelu delivered a keynote address as a special guest at the inaugural Cameroon Economic Meetings. Held under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Head of Government, H.E. Chief Joseph Dion Ngute, the event convened key economic stakeholders to discuss sustainable development and business growth in Africa.
In his address, he shared insights on entrepreneurship, economic transformation, and the role of indigenous African businesses in shaping the continent’s future.

Honoured with the ‘Africa Business Impact Award’
During his visit to Cameroon, Tony O. Elumelu was recognised with the prestigious ‘Africa Business Impact Award’ by the Groupement des Entreprises du Cameroun (GECAM). This accolade acknowledged his longstanding commitment to economic empowerment, private sector leadership, and sustainable business development across Africa.
Capping off his travels, Tony Elumelu also met some members of the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) alumni of in Cameroon.
